First Presbyterian Church is a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America and its area presbytery, Gulf Coast Presbytery.  The PCA was born in 1973 out of a desire to have a denomination committed to the truth of the Bible and the proclamation of the good news.  That good news states that God forgives sinners who by faith receive Jesus Christ and trust in His finished work on the cross to pay the penalty of sin and reconcile us to God.
