The Moody Chorale, conducted by Gerald H. Edmonds of the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, will be performing on Monday, March 15, 2010 at 7:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, Niceville, FL.

Founded in 1946, the Moody Chorale has long been established as one of the leading collegiate choral organizations in the United States specializing in sacred music. Its purpose is to minister the Word of God through music, leading men and women in the worship of our Creator and Redeemer. The ensemble’s repertoire includes a broad range of music chosen from all periods of music history. The Chorale tours the United States twice a year and tours abroad occasionally during the summer, ministering to and encouraging various churches and missionaries. Previous summer tours have included Great Britain, Europe, Australia, East Asia, Israel, Guatemala, and South Africa; the Chorale anticipates a tour to the United Kingdom and the British Isles in May 2010.

Gerald H. Edmonds, conductor, is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and holds Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in composition from the American Conservatory of Music. Joining the MBI faculty in 1969, he organized the Moody Concert Band in 1970 and conducted it until 1978 when he was appointed conductor of the Chorale. Mr. Edmonds was the Music Pastor of The Moody Church for 27 years and is a newly published composer. As Professor of Music at Moody Bible Institute, he currently teaches choral conducting and church music courses.

The Moody Bible Institute, founded in 1886 by evangelist D.L. Moody, is a non-denominational college that educates and trains men and women for Christian service. It is an accredited member of the Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges (AABC), the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), and North Central Association (NCA). The Music Department has been an integral part of the Institute’s curriculum since its founding. In addition to the Chorale, Moody has three other touring groups: the Women's Concert Choir, the Men's Collegiate Choir, and the Symphonic Band.
